UNTV Cup: Fifth wave of public service basketball starts on August 29

A new round of public service basketball is set to unleash on August 29, 2016, Monday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

UNTV Cup, the brainchild of public service advocate Kuya Daniel Razon, is now on its fifth season.

It is going to be participated by 12 teams from various teams in the government representing their chosen beneficiaries such as the Malacañang Patriots, Senate Defenders, Supreme Court's Judiciary Magis, DOJ Justice Boosters, Ombudsman Graft Busters, HOR Solons,  AFP Cavaliers, PNP Responders, BFP Fire Fighters, MMDA Black Wolves, NHA Builders and GSIS Furies.

Last season's champion AFP Cavaliers received P4 million prize (P3.5-M for its chosen charity AFP Educational Benefit System Office and P500,000 for the team).

While the 2nd placer, PNP Responders received P2-M (P1.7-M for their beneficiary PNP Sports Development Program and Sangguniang Masang Pilipino International Foundation and 300,000 for the team).

The 3rd placer, MMDA got P1-M prize of which they donated P800,000 to Philippine General Hospital-Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit, Philippine Cerebral Palsy Inc. and Damayan Fund through MMDA Provident Fund. P200,000 was the token for the team.

Fourth placer NHA Builders recieved P500,000 prize. They handed P400,000 to NHA Provident Fund Association Inc. and 100,000 for the team.

The rest of the non-winning teams received P100,000 for their chosen charities.

Over the years the cash prize have increased significantly from P1-M to P4-M for the champion followed by the runner ups because of the support of UNTV's main public service partner Bro. Eli Soriano of Ang Dating Daan and Members Church of God International

It is expected that the incoming season will be more action-packed and more charity institutions will benefit as well.

The league also showcase former basketball professionals like Kenneth Duremdes, Zaldy Realubit, EJ Feihl, Kiko Adriano, Don Camaso, Ariel Capus, Boyet Bautista and many more.

UNTV Cup airs every Sunday starting 2PM.
